About VCAC
Our Mission Statement
To support and strengthen the Arts throughout Ventura County while continuing to serve Ventura County Artists, Arts Organizations, Schools and the General Public.

Vision Statement
VCAC adopted the nine goals and objectives of the 1992 Cultural Arts Plan
1. To develop countywide leadership from both the private and public sectors.
2. To create public awareness of arts and culture as a quality of life issue.
3. To develop an enduring base of financial resources to support the arts.
4. To provide a forum for communications, cooperation and collaboration within the arts community.
5. To improve the availability and quality of arts-in-education programs.
6. To improve access to comprehensive technical assistance programs.
7. To improve marketing of arts activities and cultural assets on a regional basis.
8. To increase utilization of exiting facilities and coordinate development of new facilities.
9. To support, nurture and promote the county’s cultural diversity.

History
The Ventura county Arts Council (VCAC) was created in 1996 primarily to administer the State/Local Partnership program of the California Arts Council. In March 2000, VCAC embarked on a countywide cultural arts planning process designed to determine the current status and needs of arts organizations in Ventura County and to develop an overarching vision for VCAC to guide its next stage of development and service to the arts. The Countywide Cultural Arts Plan 2001 is the roadmap for the future of VCAC. It articulates the mission, values and priorities of the agency, and sets forth a plan for strengthening, supporting and enhancing the arts in Ventura County.
