OUR MISSION
The Ventura County Arts Council supports and strengthens the arts throughout Ventura County by:
stimulating greater accessibility and public involvement in the arts
promoting quality arts education and learning through the arts in public & private schools
providing a clearinghouse of information and resources
expanding funding
promoting dialogue and mutual support among arts organizations and artists
serving as a liaison and advocate for its local constituencies at a regional, state, and national level

OUR CHARTER
Founded in 1996 and incorporated as a 501(c)(3) public benefit corporation in 1997, the Ventura County Arts Council is the official local partner of the California Arts Council with strategic partnerships with the California Department of Education, the Ventura County Superintendent of Schools, and the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.
In March 2000 the VCAC embarked on a countywide cultural arts planning process designed to determine the current status and needs of arts organizations in Ventura County, and to develop an overarching vision to guide the development and delivery of services to the arts community.
The VCAC is governed by an active Board of Directors, with an executive director to oversee the implementation of the Board's policy decisions. The VCAC has the following standing committees: Executive, Visual Arts, Development, Arts Education, Arts Week, Arts Advocacy, and Cultural Tourism. Read our legal statement.

VCAC's primary constituencies are Ventura County artists and nonprofit and public arts organizations.

GOALS
Increasing community access to the arts in our region and the professional development of artists and cultural organizations continue to be the primary focus for VCAC. Our specific goals include plans to increase our outreach services to both individuals and organizations through improved communications and visibility. As part of the ongoing institutional stabilization, we are working towards a goal of establishing Ventura County as a destination, both locally and regionally.
VCAC will continue to aid in the professional development of artists and organizations in the community be facilitating and encouraging exhibit and performance opportunities and career counseling input and advice. In addition, as part of our peer support we also disseminate information about regional and national opportunities.
