Action Alerts!
The Ventura County Art Council leverages your voice
through membership. Without an active, informed and mobilized voice, artsand culture across our county will
fall well below other regions.Taking informed action is the number one way in which we ensure the arts and arts education do not bear the brunt of this most recent
economic downturn. With real dollars being cut,
community groups, commissions and cause-centered stakeholders are gearing up to save their interests.
SO MUST THE ARTS COMMUNITY.
The more we reachout to our elected officials, the
more they willvalue the important role of arts and culture.
Join the VCAC and leverage your voice!

Arts Education Block Grant Funding
As our legislators face the challenge of a $14 billion deficit,
it is critical that arts education advocates raise our united voice in support of continued funding for arts education in
the annual budget. Please send a letter to your elected Assembly member and Senator, as well as to the Governor, to let them know how important this funding is to you and
the children of this state. Take a moment to customize the letter. Add your personal perspective - it can be brief -
in a way that will bring it to life.

AB 1365
Requires that 20% of existing sales tax collected in two specificretail categories pertaining to arts, crafts and
music, be transferredto the California Arts Council. If this
bill becomes law, it will generatein the first year more than $30 million for the California Arts Counciland its grants programs. Betty Karnatte will once again be submitting
this bill for consideration by the legislature. For it to be successful, our legislators will need to hear from all of us. This would be achance for arts organizations and
individual artists to once again receive funding from
the CAC to further the arts in our region.
