Project will be conducting an information and training session about how to use the California Cultural Data Project to evaluate the economic impact of your
Arts Organizations programs. It will help you compare your program with like programs in other parts of the state, as well as confirm the value of your program's impact on yourcommunity. You will have an
opportunity to ask questions and get the answers.

benefit the cultural sector by providing
comprehensive, standardized data on arts
and culture. This data will allow the cultural
community to articulate and provide evidence for the sector’s assets and needs, and its

Arts Education Funding Arts Lobbyist Kathryn Lynch
shared background details of how she lead the effort that
resulted in the$106 billion arts education funding. Now, how
will the projected $8 billion State budget deficit may impact
new arts education funding?
AB 1365 Lisa Caretto, Executive Director, California Arts Advocates gave some of the background on efforts to provide funding for theCalifornia Arts Council and how that has lead to Assembly Bill 1356. AB 1365 requires that 20% of existing
sales tax charged in twospecific retail categories pertaining to arts, crafts and music betransferred to the California Arts
Council. If this bill becomes law,it will generate in the first
year more than $30 million for the California
Arts Council and its grant programs.
Candidate’s Forum Advocacy Actions: Lisa and Kathy
emphasized how important it is for increasing the pressure on
elected officials at all levels about the value of public support for
the arts Local advocacy action such as San Buenaventura Foundationfor the Arts Candidate’s Forum. Sharon Taylor
shared some of the organizational details of the Candidate’s Forum the sponsored andhow effective past forum have been
in election arts-friendlycouncil members.
