VCAC eNewsletter – February 2008

As a loyal supporter of the arts you are the Ventura County Arts Council's most valuable asset - our indispensable partner - our inspiration - a most necessary link to our existence. We thank you and we celebrate the impact our partnership can have on the well-being of our communities through our affiliation.

The VCAC, a Partnership for the Arts, serves both the arts providers and the arts consumers across the entire county. We do this by promoting artistic excellence, accessibility to the arts for everyone, support for artists and arts organizations, and cooperation, communication and mutual support among arts organizations, artists and the community.

We are especially proud of the programs we sponsor that touch the lives of our young citizens. By bringing our students into intimate contact with the arts we provide them with additional ways to succeed in their academic and personal lives.

Please join us by lending your continuing support to the arts and the goals of the VCAC. If you are already a member and your membership card says 2007, this is the perfect time to renew.

If you are not already a member we invite you to become one and be counted as a supporter of our local arts community.

The membership cost is small when compared to the many benefits it will provide to the arts in our community.

Please see below for easy access to our online membership form. If you need more information, please call our office at (805) 658-2213,

With warm regards,

Monica, Nolan, President

THE ARTS LIVE AT PROVIDENCE SCHOOL

The Ventura County Arts Council (VCAC) has established an arts curriculum on the campus of Providence School, the year round school in the county Juvenile Facility on Vineyard in Oxnard. With funding from the California Arts Council and the Ventura County Office of Education, and a strong partnership between the VCAC, the school staff and faculty and the Probation Agency staff, 8 professional artist/teachers have been retained to get the program started. One of the first projects will be to create a mural under the direction of muralist MB Hanrahan (see color sketch at left) illustrating the school theme "Change Requires Effort."
