Art Stars Awards

The Art Stars Awards is an annual countywide event to recognize arts friendly civic organizations, businesses, government entities, local philanthropists, nonprofits, educators, student arts leaders, and artists serving their communities.

The Art Stars Awards event is a wonderful celebration of the arts in Ventura County. With this event the Ventura County Arts Council honors individuals, businesses and organizations that have taken the extra steps toward making the Arts more accessible to their fellow citizens - whether it is through funding the Arts, providing more cultural programs, or hands on work with children in the classroom. Their work has crisscrossed our entire geographic area – from Fillmore to Ventura to Thousand Oaks. And because of this, not only have the specific populations they serve benefited from their efforts, but their professionalism, dedication and commitment have in turn enriched the Quality of Life for all of us living in Ventura County.

Why are these ladies smiling?

Poetry makes people smile....and these ladies were recently named Literary Treasures of Ventura County for their long-standing contributions to the literary arts and poetry in particular. Honoring these poets was the first step in a new VCAC initiative to highlight poetry in Ventura County. The second step involves you! The Arts Council and its advisory committee is seeking nominees for the title of Poet Laureate of Ventura County. The intent is to have the poet named by the end of 2013 so he or she can begin their two year term beginning in 2014.

THE GERD KOCH & CAROLE MILTON
GRANT FOR PROFESSIONAL
VENTURA COUNTY ARTISTS

HONORING THE LEGACY OF
LEADING COUNTY ARTISTS OF THE PAST

This groundbreaking grants program, conceived by the artists for whom it is named, is the first of its kind intended for Ventura County exhibiting artists. To this point, grants for individual artists have been limited to scholarships for advanced study awarded to outstanding visual arts students.

Tax deductible donations in any amount may be made to the grant fund. Checks should be made payable to the Ventura County Arts Council, with memo notation: Koch & Milton Grants Fund. Please contact the VCAC for more information or use donation button below.

A For-Profit Art Gallery Lends Financial Support to a Nonprofit County Arts Organization!

 

The Ventura County Arts Council Board of Directors is pleased to announce a generous offer of financial support from the Curator of GALLERY AT THE CROWNE. Beginning with the up-coming show, funds will be forwarded to the Ventura County Arts Council (VCAC) based on artwork sales from the Gallery.
