ARTS-IN-THE-CLASSROOM MINI-GRANTS
Inaugurated in 2004, the Mini-Grant program has approved over 35 classroom arts projects for funding. The mini-grants provide a source of support for the elementary schools to partner with local arts organizations and artists in bringing standards based arts into the classroom.

ARTS WEEK 2009 CELEBRATION
OCTOBER 2 - 11, 2009
SPOTLIGHTING CULTURAL EVENTS COUNTYWIDE
VCAC coordinates and promotes a countywide Arts Week celebration that coincides with California Arts Day. Artists and arts organizations are encouraged to schedule
activities during this ten day “week”.
This year the annual countywide Arts Week 2009
Celebration is going Green. All events will be
listed on the VCAC web site in a downloadable,
searchable PDF Document/Brochure.

POETRY OUT LOUD
Student Recitation Competition
Poetry Out Loud is a national recitation program sponsored by the National Endowment for the Arts, in which high
school students present an oral interpretation of a
published poem in a national competition. In California,
the program is sponsored by the California Arts Council. California Poets in the Schools is working with the
Ventura County Arts Council to administer it in Ventura County. Poets are available to assist English teachers
and their students in preparing for the countywide competition. Please visit the Poetry Out Loud web site
